Prince of Songkla University (PSU) was established in 1967 as the first university in southern Thailand. The original aims of the university were to raise the general education standards and support regional industry and development.

Today, PSU is a world-class public university, committed to academic excellence, reputable research and innovation. It is one of the nine national research universities and among top 10 comprehensive universities in Thailand by Quacquarelli Symonds’ ranking.

PSU’s five campuses, located in Hat Yai, Pattani, Phuket, Surat Thani and Trang respectively, house more than 33,000 students, including international students from 35 nations, and offer some of the best teaching facilities in Southeast Asia, with almost 150 Bachelor’s, over 100 Master’s and 80 Ph.D. degrees.

University’s missions are to build academic leadership and innovation through research, to produce globally-recognized graduates with academic and professional competence; to develop the university into a society of learning based on a multi-cultural background and sufficiency economy principles.

As a leading research university in Thailand and in Southeast Asia, PSU is proud of its distinguished record of achievements in teaching, research and services to community. At PSU, one can enjoy excellent teaching and learning facilities, outstanding sports provisions, and the opportunity to join one of the multicultural student clubs and societies. As one of the nine research universities of the country, PSU has full infrastructure for research works: a high-performance information technology network, an on-line library and an audio-visual system for learning, a modern center for scientific equipment servicing around the clock, specialized laboratories in numerous fields.

PSU Hat Yai Campus has medical facilities, covering all types of medical: the biggest and most specialized general hospital in the region, namely Songklanagarind Hospital, a Dental Hospital, a Traditional Thai Medicine Hospital, and a Veterinary Hospital.

PSU offers dormitories on the campus to create a good learning environment and allow students have better opportunities to exchange their attitudes and view points, foster good relationships and friendships, as well as learn to be responsible to themselves and to the public in general.

PSU campuses offer several food centers and cafeterias across the campus with variety of Thai, Chinese, and Muslim food available.

Campus-wide Wi-Fi Internet and LAN are readily available around the campus.

At PSU, one can enjoy outstanding sports provisions: sport courts (tennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball, takraw, petanque), multi-purpose playing fields, swimming pool, fully-equipped gymnasiums, fitness center, areas for aerobics and Tai Chi classes. Yoga classes and other types of sporting are also available.
